He was also a painter, fictionist and philosopher and led a multifaceted artistic life. This anthology compiled and edited by Jonathan Cua introduces an aspect of Villa as a critic, covering his critical essays and annual selections of the best Filipino poems and short stories from 1927 to 1940.
