Tangere
Rodrigo V. Dela Peña Jr.’s Tangere is a poetry collection that reimagines the classic work of José Rizal, Noli Me Tangere. Each poem corresponds to a chapter in Rizal’s novel, breathing new life into its characters and narratives.
Tangere functions as a palimpsest and collage, weaving together the voices of Maria Clara, Pilosopo Tasio, Sisa, and other characters. Through this kaleidoscopic chorus, the collection becomes an exploration, an interrogation, and a reclamation. It is both a homage to the past and a leap into new poetic possibilities.
Rodrigo Dela Peña Jr. is a poet whose works have been published in Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature, Kritika Kultura, Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, and other journals and anthologies. He has received prizes from the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the Kokoy F. Guevara Poetry Competition, and the British Council, among others.
