New Frontiers: Olivia d'Aboville - Chasm of Fantasies

New Frontiers: Olivia d'Aboville - Chasm of Fantasies

Regular price ₱500.00

Published in conjunction with her first solo exhibition New Frontiers: Olivia d'Aboville - Chasm of Fantasies at the Ayala Museum in 2010, this catalog features d'Aboville's sculptures and installations made out of synthetic, plastic objects such as disposable spoons, water bottles, fishnets, and monofilament wires. Applying traditional and contemporary techniques in weaving and textiles, she transforms these objects into strange and mesmerizing marine creatures, photographed especially for this catalog by Neal Oshima. Inspired by the waters of the Philippines, particularly in Mindoro, where they have a family home, d'Aboville's works also respond to environmental issues such as recycling, waste management, water pollution, and climate change.
