Retrato ng Artista Bilang Pilipino
This book is the Filipino translation of National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin's most famous play, A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino. Originally written in English in 1950, Joaquin's story is set in Intramuros, Manila before the outbreak of World War II in the Philippines. Acclaimed as a 'well-plotted metaphor for the passing of Old Manila", it explores the many aspects of Philippine society through the story of an artist's family and their conflicts amidst the looming war and the confrontation between traditional Filipino culture and identity and contemporary Western ideals.
