Pigafetta's Philippine Picnic
Pigafetta's Philippine Picnic: Culinary Encounters During the First Circumnavigation, 1519-1522 by Felice Prudente Sta. Maria is a retelling of Ferdinand Magellan's expedition to the Philippines through the lens of food. Based on Antonio Pigafetta's account of the historic voyage, it "humanizes the story of the expedition, which was composed of able-bodied men who courageously set out on a journey in search of food, herbs, and spices but suffered hunger and other adversities along the way."
