A fictionist, critic, and scholar, Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo is one of the country's leading pioneers for creative nonfiction. She is currently Professor Emeritus of English & Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines (Diliman) and Director of the University of Santo Tomas Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies. She was awarded the Southeast Asian Recorders (S.E.A.Write) Lifetime Achievement Award on August 10, 2023.
