Matrix: Works by Filipino Women in the Ateneo Art Gallery
Six decades of modern artworks by 17 Filipino women are included in the permanent collection of the Ateneo Art Gallery and presented in this exhibition catalog curated by Emmanuel Torres.
From the idyllic impressionism of Anita Magsaysay-Ho (b.1914) to the postmodern optical jokes of Maria Cruz (b. 1957), the catalog features works that date back to the ‘50s up to the 21st century. Also included in the collection are spiritual abstractions in the ‘60s, protest art in the ‘80s, and domestic hyper-realism in the 2000s.
