Written by Stephen Ongpin, a direct descendant of Damian Domingo, this small monograph serves as an introduction to the artist. Domingo (1796 - 1834) was a Chinese Filipino painter who was among the first to specialize in secular art. He is known for his portraits and miniatures as well as albums of illustrations of people in their traditional costumes. He is also highly regarded for his contributions in art education, having established the first official Philippine art academy in his residence in Tondo in 1821.
