Continuing Spirit: Alfredo Esquillo
Divided into three sections, the exhibit includes his imageries of labyrinths, spiritual objects, icons and symbolisms surrounding figures as they pray for survival and salvation. Esquillo’s practice also includes the use of materials like plastic and pelon sheets. Featured in the exhibit are his creative experiments of weaving two canvases to form mat patterns and his appropriation and face cut-outs of archival photos using different media. Other works included are his tragicomedy series where he rendered the narratives through theatrical compositions of figures in different spaces.
