Markets of Resistance
Markets of Resistance by Angel Velasco Shaw brings together forty-four voices through essays, interviews, poetry, and archival materials that engage with re/self/decolonial thought, cultural exchange, Indigenous resistance, and the creative life of Baguio and the Cordillera.
The publication grew out of a six-month multidisciplinary project and experimental course that culminated in a series of public programs at the Baguio Public Market. It was developed through the collaboration of undergraduate students and faculty from Philippine Women’s University and the Baguio-based AX(iS) Art Project.
Presented as a four-volume set with a general introduction booklet, the publication reflects interconnected practices of learning, making, and exchange. It invites readers to navigate its materials as one would move through the layered spaces of the market itself where history, culture, and contemporary life converge.
