Award Winners: A Visual Arts Registry
This book documents the history of award-winning artists and the many competitions that shaped Philippine visual arts. Compiled by Jane Stangl Alvero, the book traces the development of art prizes in the country from the 1940s up to the 1990s. It covers major national awards, short-lived competitions, regional and overseas prizes, and those created for children and students.
It also presents the rules, histories, and lists of winners from well-known competitions such as the Shell National Students Art Competition, the Art Association of the Philippines Annual Art Competition, the Thirteen Artists Award, and the Metrobank Foundation National Painting Competition, among others.
Jane Stangl Alvero previously worked as Assistant Editor of Sunburst International Magazine and Architectural Journal, and as Associate Editor of In Style magazine.
