A monograph on the life and work of artist Mario Parial (1944-2013) by Ruben D.F. Defeo. A multi-awarded printmaker and painter, Parial is best known for his genre images, capturing festivals, traditions and everyday life of the common folk people. He graduated in 1969 from the University of Santos College of Fine Arts, where he also taught courses in printmaking, painting and photography. A student of pioneering Filipino printmaker Manuel Rodriguez Sr., Parial actively produced woodcuts and rubbercuts in the 60s, before shifting to acrylic and oil painting in the 70s.
