ISSUE 02 – KAPWA reclaims fashion as a medium for social justice and liberation through a BIPOC queer lens. Opening with an essay on Kapwa and its ties to fashion, this issue highlights resistance and creativity within the industry. From exploring fashion under occupation and countercultures to critiquing colourism and beauty standards, we examine the transformative power of protests, labour movements, and second-hand fashion amidst waste colonialism. Stories of queer and trans bodies, alongside analyses of fashion’s intersections with colonialism, class, Gender and race, reveal its potential to challenge oppressive systems.
