A long-time resident of Sagada, Mountain Province, American historian and anthropologist William Henry Scott contributed to the understanding of early Philippine society and the ethnology of northern Luzon. This book, a compilation of cultural writings by colleagues and friends, is a tribute to the eminent scholar. Edited by Jesus T. Peralta, it includes a biographical note and bibliography of Scott’s writings as well as essays on 18th and 19th century agrarian developments in Central Luzon, the post-revolutionary transition in Cebu province, the Palawan epics, prehistoric links of the Sama Lepa of Tawi-Tawi, and land tenure among non-Hispanized Filipinos among others.
