Bamboo Bed
Weldon M. McCarty's Bamboo Bed - Art, Politics, and Acculturation: Personal Tales of War and Rebellion, Manila 1968-1973 is a chronicle of the life of a postcolonial American who first came to the Philippines as part of the US Air Force at the height of the Vietnam War. McCarty has since lived in the Philippines for the last thirty-five years, moving "between the centers and margins of power". This book is "an account of the tempestuous antecedents of late 20th century Manila" and provides a "visceral map of the modern Philippines that is once hallucinatory and prophetic".
