Filipino Woman Writing
This is an anthology of autobiographical narratives of ten Filipina writers including Paula Carolina Malay, Maria Luna Lopez, Estrella Alfon, Carmen Guerrero-Nakpil, Kerima Polotan Tuvera, Barbara Gonzalez, Cecilia Manguerra-Brainard, Sylvia Mayuga, Rosario Garcellano, and Gilda Cordero-Fernando. According to author Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo who was credited with the term “autobiographical narratives,” they are “incidents or phases of the author’s life” in contrast with “autobiographies” that imply “a story of some length, usually covering the author’s life, from its beginnings to the moment of writing.”
First published in 1994, this edition includes a new introduction and updated contributors’ biographical notes.
