Santiago Bose: Painter, Magician

Santiago Bose: Painter, Magician

Regular price ₱2,200.00

This monograph traces the life and work of Filipino artist Santiago Bose, whose art embraced complexity, improvisation, and cultural memory. With essays by Patrick Flores, Elaine W. Ng, Lilledeshan Bose, and the artist himself, the book also includes photographs of selected works and installations, as well as a timeline of Bose’s life.

Through collage-like paintings, installations, and performances, Bose used everyday materials to explore colonial histories, indigenous knowledge, and the layered identities of the Philippines. As Patrick Flores writes, “Santiago Bose renders this density with whimsy and urgency,” activating local materials and cultural references with the insight and irreverence of a “trickster-bricoleur.”
