Manila Cathedral
This book commemorates the 437th anniversary of the Manila Cathedral founded in 1581 in Intramuros, Manila. Known as the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the cathedral has survived several destructive events over four centuries of existence, including the second World War which ravaged the city of Manila. The eight and current structure was completed in 1958 under the supervision of Most Rev. Rufino J. Cardinal Santos, DD and notable Kapampangan architect Fernando H. Ocampo. Today the Manila Cathedral continues to serve as a place of worship for the Catholic community and as a formidable monument and symbol of the transcendent and the eternal.
