Sym, Galicano, and Paspi
Sym, Galicano, and PASPI (Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines, Inc.) by Amadis Ma. Guerrero chronicles the work of artists Sifronio Y. Mendoza (Sym), Romulo Galicano, and the group PASPI, founded by Galicano in Cebu in 2010. Tracing their roots to the Dimasalang Group, of which SYM and Galicano were both part of, the book focuses on the revival of traditional figurative painting, which was epitomized by the classical school of Fernando Amorsolo.
Bookended by Sym and Galicano, the book's 16 chapters also feature Wilfredo Baldemor, Romeo Ballada, Publio Briones Jr., Carlos Cadid, Wilfredo Canete Jr., Ariel Caratao, Ramon de Dios, Efren Enolva, Carlos Florido, Alvin Montano, Maridi Nivera, Joemari Sanclaria Chua, Dante Silverio and Lita Wells.
