A workshop initiated every two years by the University of the Philippines Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center and Japan Foundation Manila, 'Forces at Work' comprises of curatorial projects from Con Cabrera, Merv Espina, Ricky Francisco and Mayumi Hirano. Cabrera’s exhibit 'White Noise' traces oppression and protest in history; Espina’s 'Holdings' continues to explore the art market as a site of political economies; Francisco’s 'Still' focuses on catastrophe and the poetic responses to it; and Hirano’s 'The Lizards Says You’re A Liar!' delves into the process of negotiation between local beliefs and scientific knowledge.
