A Fact Has No Appearance
An accompanying publication of the exhibition 'A Fact Has No Appearance: Art Beyond The Object' held at National Gallery Singapore in 2016, it focuses on three artists from Southeast Asia - Johnny Manahan, Redza Piyadasa, and Tan Teng-Kee - who were all active in the 1970s, a period of artistic experimentation and intellectual expansion about the meaning of art. Curated by Clarissa Chikiamco, Russell Storer and Adele Tan, the exhibition presents concise case studies of their practices during this decade of radical activity and considers the impact of their work in their respective locations.
