Wages of Cinema
Joel David's 'Wages of Cinema' examines trends in film discourse such as deconstruction, historiography, cultural policy, postcolonialism, and psychoanalysis, plus reconsiderations of questions on structure, genre, gender, race, autobiography, and authorship, in the light of how these may best contribute to the interests of Philippine film criticism, production, and viewership. It presents a variety of film texts, including 'Manila by Night', 'Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag', as well as foreign titles 'Nashville', 'Dressed to Kill', 'Raising Cain', 'Cannibal Tours', 'In the Realm of the Senses', 'Super 8 1/2', and 'Indochine'.
