The Right to Know
The Right to Know: Access to Information in Southeast Asia examines the state of the media and information access in eight countries in the region: The Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Burma, and Vietnam. It contains the findings of a survey that ranked the countries according to their openness and transparency, showing that the struggle for freedom of information cannot be taken separately from the struggle for democracy.
Edited and with an introduction by Sheila S. Coronel, it includes the writings of Berlin Lintner, Peter Eng, Warief Djajanto Basorie, Padmaja Padman, Yvonne T. Chua, James Gomez, Kavi Chongkittavorn, and A. Lin Neumann.
