The Art of Duddley Diaz
Duddley Diaz (b.1947) is a sculptor and mixed-media artist who graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts in 1983. He took up further studies in Florence, Italy where he continues to be based today. His work challenges notions of identity, sexuality, culture, and history and combines the values of classical Renaissance sculpture with atavistic images derived from ancient mythology and Christian liturgical art. Goddesses, owls, and angels made from clay and terracotta, wood, cast bronze, brass, silver, and ox bone, populate his unique cosmology.
