Sanso
A monograph on the life and works of Juvenal Sanso (b. 1929) written by Alfredo Roces. Born in Spain and raised in the Philippines, where his family established a wrought-iron business, Sanso studied at the University of the Philippines School of Fine Arts before leaving for further studies in Europe and eventually establishing his residence in Paris, France. Known for his surreal paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic and his favored ink and dry brush, he has also produced fine etchings in a dynamic strong-lined styled. He has also worked in textile design, printing, photography, as well as designed sets and costumes for several operas in France and in the Philippines. He is the recipient of The Presidential Medal of Merit in 2006 and The Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2008.
