Documentary photographer Rick Rocamora's book focuses on Quiapo. Once the only 'downtown' in Manila, the district has slowly deteriorated since the 1960s-70s, and is now considered as a haven for petty criminals, shiftless transients and all sorts of lowlife. Rocamora often went to Quiapo early in the morning, in search of real stories of ordinary individuals. In this book, he captures strong-hearted, hardworking individuals tenaciously trying to overcome life’s obstacles for their dreams.
