Nang Issue 1
Nang is a 10-issue magazine dedicated to cinema in Asia. A collaboration of guest editors and contributors, Nang aims to broaden the horizons of what the moving image is in Asia, engaging readers with a wide range of stories, contexts, subjects, and works connected by cinema.
The first issue, edited by Ben Slater, focuses on Screenwriting, an area both mysterious and marginalized, especially in regards to cinema in Asia. Through a series of interviews with writers and writer-directors from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Iran, the issue presents a myriad of writing experiences, methods for developing stories, and ways in which screenwriters survive and endure within their film industries.
