Masferré: People of the Philippine Cordillera Photographs 1934-1956

Regular price ₱15,000.00

From 1934 to 1956, self-taught Filipino photographer Eduardo Masferré documented the ancient way of life of the indigenous people of the Philippine Cordillera. He created a sensitive portrait of a place and its people: the rice terraces sculpted into the mountain slopes and valleys, the planting, cultivation and harvesting of rice, a family gathered at their hearth, scenes of the village, weavers and potters at work, religious rituals and ceremonial dances, and strong faces that meet one's gaze with great integrity.

Masferré preserved all of these in timeless images that transcend ethnography and imbue documentary fact with deeper meaning.
