Marcel Duchamp in South East Asia
The catalog of the inaugural exhibition of Equator Art Projects in Singapore of 43 artists from Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Iran, and England. Curated by Tony Godfrey, the exhibition includes works that reflect on or respond to the work or legacy of the French artist Marcel Duchamp, who is often referred to as "the father of conceptual art".
The exhibition features works across a broad spectrum of media, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, music, videos, texts, photographs, installations, and assorted odd things. It includes works by Filipino artists Poklong Anading, Felix Bacolor, Lyle Buencamino, Ringo Bunoan, Annie Cabigting, Lena Cobangbang, Geraldine Javier, Isa Lorenzo, Nikki Luna, Gary-Ross Pastrana, Maria Taniguchi, and Wire Tuazon.
The catalog includes essays by Ringo Bunoan, Gao Yi Yuan, Tony Godfrey, Agung Hujatnikajennong, Jeremy Millar, Lee Weng Choy and Adele Tan.
