An accompanying publication to the work exhibited by Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan as part of the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, 'M201 In God We Trust' features the iconic Philippine jeepney. A remnant of the American military vehicle, it has been re-purposed by Filipinos as a basic mode of public transportation. In the Aquilizans' work, it is "reconditioned" into a "makeshift base of operation, a recycled domicile, a caravan of goods, an improvised camp or colony, a household-in-the-making, a birthright repatriated from the ruins and remains of dispossession."
