Lawanen 2: Mga Alaala ng Pagkubkob / Mga Haraya ng Pag-igpaw is a collection of essays and poems that serve as an important documentation of what happened on May 23, 2017 in Marawi City, the capital of the Lanao del Sur province in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of the Philippines, and how the military encounters and Martial Law that followed affected and changed the lives of the Meranaw people, particularly the women and children.
Highlighted by CNN Philippines as one of the best books of 2018, it "cuts through simplified narratives of martial law, counterinsurgency, and “collateral damage,” and presents the harrowing accounts of those who rebuild from the ruins, and those who live and struggle with the tremors of the siege, long after it has been declared officially resolved."
