Kiukok: Deconstructing Despair
A monograph on the life and works of National Artist Ang Kiukok (1931-2005) written by Alfredo Roces. The book charts the artist's life from his birth in Davao City to his early years as an artist during the postwar period, and his eventual success. It also maps his artistic development - his "journey from the Modernist period to his Machine and Expressionist-Cubist period" - and "illuminates our understanding of his recurrent themes and contributions to Philippine art." The book also includes a timeline of important dates, list of exhibitions and a selected bibliography of the artist.
