Juvenal Sansó : Setting the Stage
This catalog documents the Sansó: Setting the Stage exhibition in celebration of Juvenal Sansó's 70 years in art last 2016. Co-presented by Fundacion Sansó and Ayala Museum, the exhibit showcases Sansó's lesser known foray into scenography and costume design.
The publication features sketches of sets and costumes by Sansó for six operas: Sergei Prokofiev's "The Gambler," Giancarlo Menotti's "Markheim," Jacques Charpentier's "Beatris," Alan Burg's "The Magic Flute," "An Important Man," and "Seraglio." It also includes exhibition notes from curator Ricky Francisco and information about the artists who enriched the exhibition experience: James Reyes who executed "The Magic Flute" costumes, Toym Imao who made maquette and installations from Sansó's set designs, and Viva Voce Ensemble who performed an opera excerpt wearing the costumes fashioned by Reyes.
