Juan Luna: Patriot and Painter
This book is meant to introduce children to the life and art of Juan Luna (1857-1899), the first Filipino painter to achieve renown in Europe when he won the highest award at the National Exposition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1884 for his painting, the Spolarium. A friend of Jose Rizal and other Filipino patriots living in Spain and Paris at the time, he also became involved with the revolution against Spain and fought for reforms in the Philippines through his art.
