First published in 1975 under the title, Music in the Philippines, William R. Pfeiffer's Filipino Music surveys the wide variety of indigenous, folk, and modern music that flourished throughout the Philippine archipelago. Conceived as a form of introduction to the rich musical heritage of the Philippines, the book is the result of a twenty-year research by the author, who was the former director of the School of Music at Siliman University in Dumaguete, Philippines.
