It begins with the vanguards of the 1950s, Manuel Conde, Lamberto Avellana & Gerardo de Leon, and the leaders of the 70s, Ishmael Bernal & Lino Brocka. The second section includes filmmakers who followed the footsteps of Bernal & Brocka, including Celso Ad Castillo, Mike de Leon, Peque Gallaga, among others. It also discusses the mainstreaming of Filipino cinema and the rise of independent films.
