Between the Tiger and the Crocodile: Broadcast Media Self-Regulation in Southeast Asia tackles the problems faced by an industry caught between the claws of state censorship and jaws of commercialism. Broadcast new practitioners and academics from the region argue that while democratic space has widened in the region in the last two decades, much of what goes on air is still subject to state regulation. By taking public interest and needs more into account, they propose that broadcast news media may be ready for self-regulation.
