A History of Komiks
Written by Cynthia Roxas and Joaquin Arevalo Jr., A History of Komiks of the Philippines and Other Countries aims to document the art of Filipino comics. The first Filipino comic strip was published in the 1920s but it was not until after WWII that it flourished in the Philippines. Initially inspired by American comics brought by the soldiers during WWII, Filipino komiks developed and became a "cultural anchor, reminding Filipinos of their heritage and values interwoven in period sagas and pastoral stories."
