Art and the Order of Nature
This book accompanies the exhibition 'Art and the Order of Nature in Indigenous Philippine Textiles' featuring the collection of Mercedes Zobel. Written by Patricia Araneta and Amihan Roldan Lim, this book invites the viewer to look at art with a new set of lenses. Set against the timeless and universal principles of traditional art that are based on the order of nature, select pieces of textiles were studied and analyzed by artists from The Prince's School of Traditional Arts in London, focusing on the local application of those principles by indigenous communities from the Cordilleras in Northern Luzon and from Sulu in Mindanao.
