This book is the first part of a research on foundries in the Philippines authored by W-A Mialhe De Burgh and Fe B. Mangahas. Focusing on the lantaka, a small culverin or brass cannon, from the 16th to 19th centuries, this book - through the use of dictionaries, historical written accounts, and the physical analysis of the cannon itself - attempts to retrace the possible places where foundries could be found in the Southeast region, particularly the Philippines.
