98 Cien Anos Despues
An accompanying publication of a series of exhibitions, seminars and conferences commemorating one hundred years after the Spanish-American War in 1898, '98 Cien Anos Despues' analyzes and reflects on the historical events that led to the independence of Cuba and the acquisition of Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines by the United States.
Tracing the Manila-Ponce-Havana route of the galleon trade, the traveling exhibition opened in Valencia, Spain and culminated in Manila in 1998. It features artists from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Spain, the United States and the Philippines, including Filipino artists Manuel Ocampo, Alfredo Esquillo Jr., Santiago Bose, and Imelda Cajipe Endaya.
